2024年5月31日，惠灵顿大学（Victoria University of Wellington）语言学及应用语言研究学院（School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies）讲师、博士生导师Robby Nadler博士应浙江理工大学理学院心理学系之邀，在2S-343作了题为《An introduction to narrative: The invisible logic behind communicating effectively》的学术讲座。

本次报告会由理学院心理学系金海洋特聘副教授主持，该单位的教师、研究生及本科生参会并交流。

在这次讲座中，Nadler博士首先通过一系列生动的示例，阐释了人们在交流中为输入信息赋予特殊意义的倾向，从而突显了叙事（narrative）在有效沟通中的核心作用。他进一步将叙事细分为宏观叙事（macro-narrative）与微观叙事（micro-narrative），并深入讲解了它们在学术论文构建中的相对性与重要性。Nadler博士还特别强调了不同文化背景下叙事的差异性，尤其是中文与英文叙事的对比，并为中国学生在英文学术写作上提出了宝贵的建议。此外，他还分享了运用信息框（message boxes）来检验学术写作中叙事有效性的创新方法。

报告结束后，师生们热情高涨，积极提问，就如何在学术论文中构建引人入胜的“好故事”，新手如何着手撰写论文，以及如何提升写作效率等话题进行了深入的讨论与交流。

主讲人简介：

Dr. Robby Nadler is a Lecturer for the Academic and Professional Writing program at the School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. Previously, he was a Lecturer for UC Santa Barbara where he also directed the Academic, Professional, and Technical Graduate Writing Development program. His lab currently researches AI, scientific writing, and improving writing scores on the IELTS.
